This past Sunday, the KCC Gang participated in our most anticipated event of the year — our annual Easter Egg Hunt. Though I know it’s been a while since we’ve posted here on the blog, we couldn’t let this big day go undocumented.
This year we hid 50 treat-filled eggs and 1 Grand Prize Egg in our living room. We changed up the rules a bit though. Usually the Grand Prize Egg is hidden more difficultly and has extra treats in it, but it isn’t worthy any extra points – just 1 point, like the rest of the eggs. This year we decided to make it worth 3 points!
Who found the Grand Prize Egg? Who won the Egg Hunt overall? Was it Sampson, the defending champion? He has only lost an egg hunt ONCE! Caster beat him out back in 2017. Did Sampson take the crown again this year, or did somebody dethrone him? Or did Sophie (who has only found 3 eggs in the past 9 years) step up her game and steal the crown?

(Sassy had her own private egg hunt, as usual – though she is never really into it much)
WOW! What a close hunt. It was a nail biter for sure! Gryph ALMOST beat out Sampson. Sampy is going to have to train harder this year if he hopes to keep his crown next year!
A special “Most Improved Hunter” award goes to Raddy. He is very shy and timid but has been coming out of his shell more and more (it’s only been 5 years since we adopted him.. haha). He was ON the hunt, engaged the whole time, and really put forth an excellent effort. I may have been rooting for Raddy the whole time…
The “Biggest Bully” award goes to Kylo! Though he usually does quite well with the egg hunt, this year he employed a new strategy. Instead of hunting for his own eggs, he just followed everyone else around and would whap them when they found an egg so he could steal their treats. He earned himself a place in Time Out and didn’t get to finish the hunt.
As you might have noticed, the total egg tally doesn’t add up to 51. They all lost interest eventually, so we ended the hunt before all the eggs were found. Perhaps we will hide fewer eggs next year.
Anyway, we hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! The KCC Gang will be training hard for next year.
